The wind swept through the canyon with a chill; kicking up the ashes that remained of a recent inferno. A young man could be seen through the swirling dust as he walked alone down the parched riverbed that comprised its core. He gazed around at the debris, surveying the land as if looking for something. Briefly he paused before walking over to a charred black tree upon which he leaned with his arms crossed.
“Well, isn’t this place just lovely?” he muttered sarcastically to himself while taking another quick glance across the canyon.
